Measures of Success

  • Beginning with Class 1 in June of 2003 a total of sixty-nine students in four classes have enrolled in ESP.
  • Thirty-two graduates from ESP Classes 1, 2, and 3 received acceptance letters from independent schools.
  • Thirteen independent schools have accepted ESP graduates.
  • Nineteen students are currently enrolled in ESP Class 4, including the first sibling to enter the program.
  • ESP students represent a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds and nationalities.
  • The ratio of students to teachers is 5 to 1; the ratio of students to counselors is 4 to 1.
  • According to the placement schools, ESP graduates have fully entered into their new school communities. They are earning above average grades, and are active participants in sports, the arts, and the social life of the schools.
  • ESP students stay in their new schools. Minimal attrition has occurred – attributable to the preparation ESP has provided its students and families.
  • ESP graduates are receiving academic awards from their independent schools.
  • Graduates and families are volunteering to return to ESP events and sessions to aid newer class members.

Return On Investment

  • The cost per student enrolled in ESP’s program is approximately $17,000. This is well below average annual tuition for area independent schools.
  • ESP students enrolled in independent schools have received an estimated average of $84,000 per student in scholarship commitments, approximately 3.3 times the cost per graduate.
  • Through Fall 2007, financial aid commitments to ESP graduates total approximately $2,700,000.
  • ESP has received over $250,000 in support from local foundations including the Bradley Charitable Fund, the Claude Moore Foundation, the John Edward Fowler Foundation, the Winwood Children’s Foundation, and the Erkiletian Family Foundation.
