Student Selection Process
ESP identifies and enrolls a
diverse group of fourth grade Metropolitan DC area boys
and girls who need both financial and preparatory assistance
to excel in independent schools. The program seeks students
who demonstrate motivation, academic promise, high character,
and leadership potential. In addition, the students’
families must be committed to meeting the program's responsibilities.
Student recruitment efforts include
contact with consortium school admission officers, teachers,
guidance counselors, religious groups, community leaders,
and area public schools. Admission to ESP is based
on testing, school grades, teacher recommendations,
and personal interviews with students and families.
